Pastries and Coffee with Borderless Beans
1. Southern Girl Desserts: Chocolate Chip Cookie
Southern Girls is amazing! My favorite from their wide selection is the classic chocolate chip cookie. Founded in 2007, Southern Girl Desserts is co-owned by Catarah Coleman and Shoneji Robison, who combined their family recipes to create a Southern cupcake and dessert knock-out. Though they have a wide variety of unique, southern selections. I find myself coming back for their chocolate chip cookie, done right.
2. Sweet Red Peach: Red Velvet Cake
Located in Inglewood, Sweet Red Peach has those cakes like the sisters used to sell after church. Delicious, but definitely not nutritious. Treat yourself and indulge in one of their many offerings, such as the sumptuous red velvet cake, which they often sell out of. There are a variety of options to choose from and you can’t go wrong with any of them. But all that being said, the red velvet is deliciously moist and the cream cheese icing definitely sets the party off. THe combination of red velvet and out Tanzanian Twilight will get the party in your mouth started. Get it before it’s gone.
3. Porto’s Bakery: Cheese Danish
Porto’s is an LA favorite for good reason. With lines wrapped around the door and around the corner at least every weekend, you’ll see why their pastries are well worth the wait. Their most popular location may be the North Hollywood, but either of the two Los Angeles staples will have you covered with their delectable cheese danish. With pastries made fresh daily, these flaky pieces of goodness will melt in your mouth. Creamy but sturdy enough to enjoy with a steaming cup of our Kenyan Symphony, this is the perfect way to start your morning, workday or a lazy weekend. Definitely check this one out.
4. Winston Pies: Cherry Pie
If you’re a pie fan, like I am, Winston Pies on West 3rd is the spot to go to. Winston offers a variety of pies to fulfill every occasion. Small hand pies to whole pies for those special family and friend gatherings, Winston curbs every appetite. One of their major hits is the cherry pie, made with semi-sweet yet tart ooey-gooey cherries, the cherry pie is the one to go for. Pair this with the subtle stone fruit notes in our Ethiopian Elegance and you’ve got yourself a date. Stop by today to get your fix of cherry pie and coffee. It’s great morning, noon, or night.
5. Randy’s Donuts: Bear Claw
You can’t have a conversation about LA donuts and not mention Randy’s. This place is iconic and rightfully so. Beyond the gigantic donut on the roof, this place actually has outstanding donuts that are sure to knock your socks off after first bite.Of all the possible pairings to choose from, you can’t go wrong with a bear claw and our Kenyan Symphony. The bear claw is massive but consider it a gift to yourself. Pull those claws apart and find inside a fluffy yet crispy donut filled with chunks of cinnamon and apple goodness, another perfect pairing. Hot and fresh out the kitchen, this one is a game changer that works oh so well with the subtle citrus notes of our Kenyan Symphony. Together, this duo might just become your new Sunday morning ritual.
6. Sightglass Coffee: Almond Croissant
A coffee shop that’s heavy on the vibes, Sightglass not only has bomb coffee with an aesthetic to match, they’re also home to a sleeper classic: the classic almond croissant. Flaky, crispy, and fresh with that almondy, buttery goodness stuffed inside, how could you say no. One of the more classical pairings on the list, a croissant and coffee are honestly a match made in heaven. Elevate this dynamic duo even further with the amazing taste of our Ugandan Delight. The complex notes of lemon and honey mesh perfectly with the flaky almond butter of the croissant.
7. M&T Donuts: Honey Wheat Donut
We’ll call this one a hood classic because it’s one of those if you know, you know type of spots. Whether you call it a hidden gem or a diamond in the rough, it needs to be on your list of places to visit today if it isn’t already. Now I know it may not sound like your go-to type of donut, but the honey wheat donut may be your new favorite contender for top five. Moist and flavorful with a nice crunchiness, this isn’t your ordinary cake donut. Pair it with our Tanzanian Twilight and your day just got ten times better, guaranteed.
